It time for Vacation Bible School at Brushfork Baptist Church! This is one of the most exciting times of the year for our church and our area, as close to 200 children gather together at Brushfork to praise Jesus. This year will be more exciting than ever as the kids enjoy singing, praising, learning the Bible, making fun crafts, learning about mission adventures, eating yummy snacks and playing together. We are blessed with some of the most loving and gifted teachers and workers you can imagine and they can't wait to meet your child!

We have classess available for Pre-K through 6th Grade. Nursery services are also available to workers and parents who want to hang around and let us get to know you. So come on and bring the kids each night from 6-8 PM. See you there!

Breakfast and Work Day

Everybody needs to eat. And we need everybody to work. That's why we're combining the two tomorrow morning (Saturday, June 5th) at Brushfork Baptist Church. Breakfast will be served at 8:00--everyone is invited. Plus, you get the added bonus of getting to to stay and work it off. We will follow breakfast with a Church Work Day. We have several things to get done and have a job for everybody so come on out!

Holy Week Services

What a glorious time of the year! Spring is "springing", days are getting longer and joy is in the air. The robins are even coming out of hiding!

But even more than those things, the main reason this is a joyous season is that this is the time of year we set aside to celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Brushfork Baptist Church is excited about the services we have planned and would love for you to be a part of them.

Passover Seder--6:30 PM Wednesday, March 3rd
We will be participating in a Christian Passover Seder at the 4H Camp in Princeton. This is always a special time as we see how Jesus fulfilled each element of the Jewish Passover. The van will leave the church parking lot at 6:00 PM.

Good Friday Service--6:00 PM Friday, April 2nd
This is a very unique and reflective service where we recognize the sacrifice of our Lord on the cross. The service centers around taking the Lord's Supper.

Sonrise Service--7:00 AM Sunday, April 4th
Our Sonrise Service is a very brief and informal time of praise and worship as we come together to celebrate the Empty Tomb. The service will either be inside the sanctuary or outside, depending on the weather. Coffee and light refreshments will be available afterwards in the Activities Building.

Because of the crazy weather we've been having, it's been a couple of weeks since we've been able to have services. The weather should be fine and I can't wait to see everybody! Heaven Sent Ministries Team Canceled

Due to a delay in shipping, Heaven Sent Ministries does not have the materials required to pack food boxes today. Because of that, Brushfork Baptist Church is canceling our team that was supposed to pack boxes today (Saturday, January 30th).

HSM's delayed shipment is due to arrive Monday, so we will reschedule a time to help as soon as possible.

Haiti Donations

Brushfork Baptist Church is encouraging everyone who is able to give generously to the people of Haiti. The devastation caused by the earthquake is hard to comprehend. Many organizations are calling for donations, and unfortunately, some of those organizations are illegitimate or are ill-equipped to help in the most efficient and beneficial way.

For that reason, I encourage you to send your donations to Baptist Global Response via their secure website.

The needs in Haiti are overwhelming and will continue to be for months. Food, water, shelter and medical attention will be immediate needs. Once the BGR assessment team arrives, they will work with Haitian Baptists to determine the greatest needs and best way to help effectively and efficiently. As we have more information, we will pass it along via our BGR AlertNet system. You can sign-up on our home page. Your gifts to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund are greatly appreciated.

Southern Baptist assessment teams are in place and working with local Baptist associations to determine the best immediate and long-term strategy for relief. This is a perfect example of why we as Southern Baptists at Brushfork Baptist Church are fully committed to cooperation.

Brushfork Baptist Church is in for a real treat this Sunday, January 10th, as Dr. James Boyd will be bringing the morning message. James is the Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, Princeton, and is a wonderful teacher and preacher. You will certainly be blessed by his relevant, practical exposition of God's Word.

As the commercials on TV say, "But wait! There's more!" Because our own Youth Director, Wes Lambert, will be bringing the message during our evening service. You will be blessed to hear from both of these godly young men.

New Years Eve Watchnight Service

Postponed Due to Weather

In consideration of your safety, Brushfork Baptist Church will be canceling services tomorrow due to the weather. Although some main roads should be cleared by Sunday morning, most secondary roads (including mine) will remain impassable.

We will reschedule the Christmas Cantata and Children's Play for next Sunday.

Although we will not be having services, I encourage you to spend the day worshipping together as a family. Spend some time in God's Word, in prayer together and in worship together.

Bible in Schools Benefit Gospel Sing

Senior Saints Thanksgiving Dinner

The name AWANA is an acronym that stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA is a children’s ministry program of Brushfork Baptist Church that is designed to give all children and youth the opportunity to come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ. Our dedicated teachers and workers do that through the use of fun activities, interactive learning, Scripture memorization, earned rewards, and loving instruction and support. Classes are available for all Pre-K through 12th Grade students and are tailor-made to fit their needs. During AWANA, parents and all other adults are invited to join us in the church sanctuary for our weekly prayer meeting. Don’t worry, you won’t be called on to pray if you don’t want to!

BGR Buckets This Sunday Night

This Sunday, July 26, our evening worship service will be dedicated to building our Baptist Global Response In-Home Care Kit buckets. We will spend time putting them together and praying over them before we send them on their way to Africa later in the week. Please join us for this special time of mission work.

What do we need from you?

GIVE—each bucket costs between $80-$100. Your donations will determine how many buckets we can send. If you are led to give, mark your check or envelope with the word “bucket” to donate and drop it in the offering plate.

SHOP—ask our WOM ladies if you can help shop for the buckets and contents.

PACK—Come and help us pack the buckets and pray over them.

PRAY—Pray that the Lord would use our efforts to relieve human suffering and open doors for the presentation of the Gospel.

In 2007 over 1.6 million adults and children died in Africa because of AIDS. Currently, there are over 22.5 million adults and children who are living with the HIV virus in Sub-Saharan Africa. Because of the lack of health care, the limited access to anti-retroviral drugs and the continued increase in the spread of HIV, thousands of children die a very painful and horrible death each year. In addition to the HIV/AIDS crisis thousands in Sub-Saharan Africa die each year from sicknesses like cancer, tuberculosis, malaria and other life ending diseases–often the only care they receive is at home.

The Baptist Global Response In-Home Care Kit is medical and hygiene supplies that we are providing to help caregivers who are taking care of home-bound, terminally ill patients. Items in this kit will make the caregivers’ tasks much easier, but more importantly will ease the suffering of the ones affected by the illness. The BGR In-Home Care Kit consists of a 5-gallon, heavy duty bucket with a sealable lid. In Africa a bucket is a very valuable item that can be used to haul and store water, store food away from rodents and insects, and store other goods away from inclement weather and environmental challenges. Inside the bucket are items that will assist in keeping patients clean and dry and items to protect their mat or mattress from soiling. Medicated lip balm and lotion are included to help treat the skin problems that AIDS sufferers battle. Other items are included that will make life easier and less painful.

Fireproof Movie Night

Brushfork Baptist Church invites you to a no-strings-attached free Fireproof Movie Night (for adults) on Saturday, July 11th at 8:30 PM. The movie will be starting at 8:30, so you might want to get there a few minutes early.

We provide the movie!
We provide the childcare!
We even provide the popcorn!
All you have to bring is yourself

Why are we doing this?
Because this is a really good movie and we want to share it with you.

DIRECTIONS:

We are located on Old Bramwell Road in Bluefield, WV.

From Princeton, WV, take Hwy 460 to Hwy 123 (Airport Rd.). Follow Hwy 123 through the Hwy 52 intersection. Approximately 1/10 mile from the 123/52 intersection you will see a small sign for Brushfork Baptist Church on the left side of the road. Turn left at that intersection. We are approximately 1/10 mile on the left.

From Bluefield, WV, take Hwy 52 toward Bluewell. Turn left at the Hwy 123 intersection (CVS). Approximately 1/10 mile from the 123/52 intersection you will see a small sign for Brushfork Baptist Church on the left side of the road. Turn left at that intersection. We are approximately 1/10 mile on the left.
